Homemade Ways to Get Relief from Joint Pains


In winter, many people suffer from painful muscles and stiff joints. If they are in the acute condition, then they should be given proper medical intervention but if one is suffering from mild arthritis or sprained joint pain then there are a lot of home remedies which can be quite helpful.

Home remedies are something which hardly has any side effects and so there is no harm in trying them out. Here are a few things that one can try:

Cold Compressed Olive Oil Massage

Olive oil is humble and it can provide great relief when it comes to joint pains. There are many ayurvedic massage oil for joint pains that one can use, but olive oil can really go a long way. One can massage cold compressed olive oil on the painful area for twice a day for a few days to see the effects. Why use cold pressed version? Because, then only the medicinal properties of the oil stay intact.

Ginger Extract

Ginger has anti inflammatory properties and some pain causing chemicals.  One can hence use ginger in order to make a hot compress to reduce joint pains. One can ass half a cup of fresh and grated ginger to 2 cups of water and then bring it to boil. After that one can add a wash cloth in the mixture and let it steep for another 15 minutes by turning off the heat. It has to be squeezed well and then used on the painful area till the cloth cools down.

Epsom Salt Soak

One can get great effects if they can soak the painful joints in Epsom salt. Epsom salt has magnesium sulphate which can be absorbed through the skin and then it can help in reducing inflammation. One can add half a cup of salt in a bowl of warm water and then soak the painful joints there for at least 15 minutes. If one has more than one painful joint then one can add some water in a bath tub and then add a good amount of salt to soak all the joints together.

Fenugreek Seeds

One can always use this as a home remedy if they are suffering from painful knees. One has to soak at least 2 table spoons of fenugreek seeds overnight. The next morning they can strain it and consume the water. Fenugreek seeds do have anti inflammatory and analgesic properties which can work as wonders when it comes to treating pains.

Add some spice to your food

It is a good idea to add some spice to the food in order to reduce swelling in their joints. Spices like turmeric, ginger and cayenne pepper contain certain compounds that can reduce swelling and can block a brain chemical which can transmit pain signals. 

Soak up the Sun

This is another aid to soothe joint pains. Having sufficient amount of Vitamin D can reduce arthritis related joint pains. One can take a daily 15 minutes of walk under the sin so that they can soak a good amount of Vitamin D in their body.
